Sitting pretty at the helm of Make-Up Therapy, a company dedicated to helping clients feel organized, beautiful and informed through the art of personalized make-up application and its therapeutic benefits, is Tara Dowburd-Luftman. She is the woman solely responsible for the hand selected color palette and skincare selections for each and every client. Tara brings more than 13 years of formal beauty industry experience as well as a lifelong love of fashion and beauty to this endeavor. “When it comes to wearing make-up, Tara says, you want to look really fabulous and still feel really comfortable.” Beautiful lashes and a beautiful face is what you will come away with when Tara is finished with you.

Born and raised in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, Tara developed a passion for fashion & beauty. Her passion was influenced by a subscription to VOGUE Magazine at age 8 and watching her mother prepare for special events with personalized make-up sessions at home. To this day Tara can recall the excitement she felt, along with the desire she had, to grab all the brushes in the Artist’s kit. All she wanted to do was dip into the pots of gloss and the compacts of colors, playing and creating with all the tools and textures laid out in front of her.

That interest remained with Tara throughout her young life. As a teen-ager she was always in demand to do make-up for friends. Upon graduating from The University of Arizona, with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, Tara journeyed to Los Angeles to pursue her interest. The first opportunity came in 1997 as a Make-Up Artist/Business Manager for Bobbi Brown at Bloomingdale’s in Century City. She was quickly promoted within 5 months to Business Manager for Bobbi Brown, where she remained for 7 more years.

In 2004 Tara was approached by Shu Uemura to spearhead the development and manage their business at Neiman Marcus' number one store in Beverly Hills. Craving a more artistic and colorful challenge, Tara took the position where she continued to make a name for herself as a prompt, professional, patient person that you were excited to spend time with. During her 10 1/2 years in retail, Tara participated in an enormous amount of freelance make-up work on the side. As of 2006, she created her company Make-Up Therapy and has been full-time ever since. From celebrity clients and red carpet events, to high-end weddings, make-up styling and professional head-shots, Tara is known as an expert in her field. She has a reputation for creating looks that are fresh, natural, beautiful and flawless.
